New Delhi, Aug 19 : The Ministry of Civil Aviation has conveyed its approval to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the grant of traffic rights to Deccan Aviation Limited in the India-UK sector.

Traffic rights of seven services per week have been granted between Bengaluru and London (Heathrow) utilising A-330 aircraft with effect from August 26.

The Ministry has advised that DGCA may grant the operating clearance to Deccan Aviation Limited after due diligence of the airline's ability to operate on the long-haul sector.

Kingfisher Airlines Limited was merged into Deccan Aviation Limited with the sanction of the Karnataka High Court.

Following this, all the 43 aircrafts on the Scheduled Operators Permit (SOP) of Kingfisher Airlines were transferred or endorsed on the SOP of Deccan Aviation Limited with the approval of the DGCA.

Prior to this, the Government had designated Deccan Aviation Limited as Indian Schedule Carrier effective from August 26 to USA, UK, Singapore, UAE, Thailand, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Pakistan.

This had been done to help the airline to undertake preparatory work like regulatory clearances, obtaining of airport space and opening of booking offices.
