AP CM inaugurates Velugonda project
Ongole, Aug 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today inaugurated more than Rs 1000 crore tunnel works of Velugonda Project which will irrigate about 4.4 lakh acres of land in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Reddy assured the farmers that the project work was progressing swiftly and the promised 42 tmc ft water would be provided to them by completing the project in time.
Advanced foreign technology was being depoloyed to dig 18 km tunnel in the next 30 months, he added.
The Chief Minister said the Government would ensure completion of the pending projects in time to facilitate the process for farmers.

He said the Government would provide compensation to those who were displaced when projects were taken up.
The envisaged coastal corridor and Special Economic Zone(SEZ) in the region would boost employment, he added.
