AAI strike tomorrow, harrowing time for passengers
New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Air passengers are in for a harrowing time tomorrow as employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will go on a strike, from 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs protest against the privatisation of airports.
The Airports Authority Employees' Union (AAEU), which has given the strike call, is also demanding rationalisation of pay-scales and filling of vacant posts.
Indian Air Force has deployed 250 skilled personnel to maintain safety and fire services at 21 airfields across the country.
The strike is expected to affect conveyer belt operations and loading and unloading of baggage.
Luggage trollies will also be not available. Taxis and other modes of transport will be off the road.
However, individual airlines are free to operate their flights as air traffic control will be operational.
