Nagpur, Aug 18 (UNI) For the first time in its history, the general body of Nagpur Zilla Parishad (ZP) today asked the Maharashtra government to recall the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) posted in the local self-government body.
A resolution seeking CEO Tukaram Mundhe's recall was adopted unanimously by the general body at a meeting held here today. The motion seeking the CEO's recall was carried by 42 votes in favour and none against. The remaining 17 members of the 59-member body abstained from voting.
The resolution asking the state government to recall the CEO was moved by Rajesh Jiwtode of the NCP, and seconded by Anand Raut, group leader of the BJP.
Incidentally, the BJP-Shiv Sena combine is in power, while the Congress-NCP combine in opposition, in Nagpur ZP. However, the ruling and opposition fronts were together on the issue. Members of the general body were unhappy with Mr Mundhe's style of functioning.
A copy of the resolution would now be forwarded to the state government, official sources said.
