Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 18 (UNI) The Thiruvananthapuram cluster of the Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Programme (IHCDP), which was implemented by Hanveev, will organise a 'Handloom Show-2008' and 'Handloom Buyer Seller Meet' on October 17 and 18 here, Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem said today.
The meet was to promote Handloom products and develop the Handloom industry by exploring new markets, he told newspersons here.
The Handloom Show was designed to showcase various Handloom products to buyers and textile designers from neighbouring states, he said, adding, the show would be organised in association with the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles.
It would host a buyer seller meet, a seminar on Handloom products and its markets, an exhibition of innovative Handloom products and a fashion show, he added.
The IHCDP, initiated under the aegis of the Development Commissioner, Handlooms, New Delhi, was aimed to revitalise the country's Handloom sector through a sustained development programme, he said.
The scheme would enable private establishments like big retail showrooms and exporters to adopt weavers and looms to produce exclusive designs and products, he said.
It would not only ensure a regular income to weavers but also provide employment throughout the year, he claimed.
