Goa government asks Centre for cancellation of SEZ's: CM
Panaji, Aug 18 (UNI) Chief minister Digambar Kamat today reiterated in the state legislative assembly the government's resolve not to permit any Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in public interest.
In a written reply to a question tabled in the House, the Chief Minister said the state Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) had issued notices to 7 approved SEZ developers for cancellation of land alloted to them in deference to the government's policy.
The Bombay High court in Goa had granted status quo in case of six SEZ developers, who approached the court, challenging the IDC notice.
In the other case, the IDC issued notice for revocation of the land allotted.
He said the Board of Approval of the Government, which had formally approved 7 SEZs for Goa, was examining the state government's proposal for their cancellation forthwith.
