BSF sieze over Rs 9 lakh fake currency
Amritsar, Aug18 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) seized Rs 9.89 lakh counterfeit Indian currency near Border Outpost (BOP) Bharopal village in the Attari sector of the district today.
BSF DIG Akhil Ahmed said that a bag containing the counterfeit notes was found concealed in the bushes close of the Indo-Pak border by a BSF patrol party. He said that the currency had been smuggled from across the border and was dumped close to the border and was to be recovered later by the Indian contacts of the Pakistan based smigglers.
A case in this connection was registered by the Punjab Police at Serai Amant Khan police station. Further investigations are on in the case.
The BSF had yesterday seized Rs 10 lakh counterfeit Indian currency near BOP Narli and had nabbed three smugglers.
