Bodo literary body appeals for communal restraint
Kokrajhar, Aug 18 (UNI) The Bodo Sahitya Sabha today appealed for restraint as communal tension between a minority community and Bodos escalated in Assam following clashes between the two communities since Thursday.
''Both the communities should exercise restrain and not pay heed to rumours that are fuelling the clashes,'' BSS president Dr Kameswar Brahma said here.
Referring to the clash in Rowta in Udalguri district on Thursday, he said it was the work of some miscreants and should never have been given a communal colour, which has led to the present situation.
The Bodo literary body also appealed to the government to ensure security of the Bodo people across the state and take steps to control the violence.
A team from the organisation will visit the troubled areas on August 22 and 23, Dr Brahma added.
