Patna, Aug 18 (UNI) Accusing the UPA government of surrendering before terrorists for poltical gains, the Bihar unit of the BJP urged President Pratibha Patil to intervene immediately and resolve the crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.
Party state spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha said here today that the BJP was in ''strong favour of military action to protect the country's sovereignty.'' Referring to the Independence Day incident, Mr Jha said the Pakistani flag was unfurled on I-Day in Kashmir, which was a direct attack on the sovereignty of the country, and poltical leaders cutting across party lines should take serious note of it.
''Because of the soft policies of the Centre, even the Indian Army remained a mute spectator to the unfurling of the Pakistani flag on the occasion of the national festival,'' he said.
''The condition of Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated to such an extent that an official, instead of the Governor, unfurled the tricolour there at Lal Chowk,'' he said.
Mr Jha further alleged that the UPA government never acted tough against the terrorists.
''It is a great irony that two prominent ministers of the Union Cabinet, Lalu Prasad and Ramvilas Paswan, and the new friend of the UPA, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, openly supported SIMI which is directly responsible for the recent serial blasts in Ahmedabad,'' he said.
