Rohtak (Haryana), Aug 18 : Boxer Akhil Kumar's parents prayed for his gold win in the Olympics.
Observing a silent fast his parents prayed for his success in the Olympics at their residence in Rohtak.
Akhil had advanced to the quarter finals on Friday extending a brilliant run by upsetting Russian world champion Sergey Vodopyanov.
Akhil's entry into the quarter finals has raised hopes of his winning the gold at the Olympics.
"We have seen him practicing since his childhood. We are confident that he will definitely get a gold medal," said Rishi, a neighbour.
Akhil, who had outboxed 2005 world silver medallist Ali Hallab of France in the first round, seems India's best bet.
