Accused in Matka King murder case remanded to JC

Mumbai, Aug 18 (UNI) A special MCOCA court today remanded Hitesh Bhagat, Jaya Chheda and Kiran Pujari to Judicial custody till September 1, for their alleged involvement in the Matka king Suresh Bhagat murder case.

Earlier, the trio was remanded to police custody for four days till today. Police had booked them under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) following which they were remanded to police custody at the initial stages and later were granted Judicial custody.

Last week, police sought their custody for four days to probe their alleged involvement in hatching a plot to kill legislative council chairman Vasant Davkhare.

Today, after the completion of the four days of police remand, the court was told that it has confisticated an imported car worth Rs three crore, as per the information given by Hitesh, who on the last occasion said that the car was destroyed in a road accident.

On June 13, Suresh Bhagat and six others were killed in an accident at Alibaug after a truck rammed into their vehicle, which was suspected to be pre-planned.
