Oman town rocks to Bhangra music
Dubai, Aug 17 (UNI) The Omani tourist city of Salalah rocked to the beats of Bhangra as a troupe of the Punjab Cultural Society put up a wonderful performance at the jampacked amphitheatre at the Maharjan Khareef Salalah grounds in Ittin.
Performing in Salalah for the first time, the troupe led by Ravinder Singh Ranguwal, recreated the vibrant and fun-filled magical atmosphere of the golden land of Punjab with their songs and bhangra and gidda performances.
Not only were hundreds of Sikhs present for the show but so also were several hundreds of Omanis and other Arab guests from neighbouring Gulf states who were present to enjoy the rapturous performance.
The performance, which was organised by the Indian embassy with support from the Salalah Tourism Festival officials, was held on four occasions.
The troupe is world famous, having toured places like Yemen, Muscat and now Salalah before performing in several other countries and finally returning to India, a report in the Times of Oman said.
