Chennai, Aug 17: Floral tributes were paid to former Union Minister and DMK ideologue Murasoli Maran on the occasion of his 74th birth anniversary here on Sunday, Aug 17. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi paid rich tributes at the statue of Mr Maran at the premises of Party Organ ''Murasoli'' in the city. Maran was the nephew of Karunanidhi.
After Mr Karunanidhi showered rose petals in the statue of the late leader, frontliner DMK leaders, including State Ministers K Anbazhagan, Arcot N Veerasamy, Parithi Elamvazuthi, Ms Geetha Jeevan, Union Ministers T R Baalu, A Raja and Radhika Selvi, DMK leaders, including S P Sargunam, paid floral tributes. DMK North and South Chennai district functionaries and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan also paid rich tributes to the late leader.
DMK Deputy General Secretary and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of Maran at Trichy, while Tourism Minister N Suresh Rajan paid floral tributes to a photo of Maran at Kanniyakumari.
