Bhopal, Aug 17 (UNI) As part of preparations for this year's Madhya Pradesh assembly polls, a 'Vishal Samagam' of senior Congress leaders and workers would be organised at Chhindwara district headquarters on August 22.
Invitees to the convention, being organised in Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamalnath's constituency, include party General Secretary and state in-charge V Narayanasamy, senior leaders Arjun Singh, Digvijay Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kantilal Bhuria, Jatin Prasad, Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Jamuna Devi and former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Subhash Yadav.
''The heads of various fronts of the state organisation have also been invited. The convention, being organised by MPCC President Suresh Pachouri, will have Mr Kamalnath as Guest Organiser,'' Congress state Vice-President and Samagam in-charge Harvansh Singh said in a release issued here today.
The event's outline was prepared last month in party supremo Sonia Gandhi's presence at New Delhi.
''The Samagam will begin at 1300 hrs in Chhindwara's Dussehra Maidan. The failures of the state's Bharatiya Janata Party regime over the past four-and-a-half years, corruption and the ruling party's reneging on promises will be highlighted,'' the ex-minister said.
People would be told of the successes of the Centre's United Progressive Alliance government, he added.
