Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of bungling on all fronts, including internal security, senior BJP leader M Venkiah Naidu today described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Indpendence Day address as ''populist with an eye on the election'', but ''without the deeds not matching the words''.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Prime Minister's charge that there were attempts to divide the people in the name of religion was deplorable as it was the Congress and its allies, which were engaged in dividing the people in the name of religion.
If Kashmir was burning, it was because of the divisive politics of the Congress, he said and asked why the government cannot handover 100 acres of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board to help it create logistic facilities for the pilgrims.
''Your approach towards the Ram Sethu and Amarnath Shrine Board are the latest examples of vote bank politics and the divisive agenda of the Congress party'', Mr Naidu alleged.
Disagreeing with the Prime Minister that external forces were responsible for inflation, he alleged that inflation had reached an all time high of 16 per cent, but the UPA government failed to take any step to contain inflation.
''The government has bungled on each and every front. You have bungled on the economy, agriculture, internal security, Ram Sethu and Amarnath land issue,'' Mr Naidu charged.
