Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko today predicted that the Lok Sabha elections would be held by the end of this year and declared that the party's alliance with the AIADMK would continue.
Talking to newspersons after party's general council here, he said the UPA Government would not be able to complete its full-term and the elections would be held by the end of this year.
Mr Vaiko said after the Left parties withdrew support over the Indo-US nuclear deal, the Congress Government engaged in horse trading to win the trust vote.
The offer of Cabinet Ministership to Jarkhand Mukthi Morcha(JMM) leader Shibu Soren, in return for voting in favour of the Government, was the classic example of the horse trading, he said adding the Government won the trust vote, but lost the trust of the people.
Mr Vaiko said the DMK Government in Tamil Nadu has also become shaky after the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) withdrew support and the Left parties threatened to withdraw support, if it continued ties with the Congress.
If the Left parties withdraw support, the ''minority DMK Government'' would purely depend on the support of the Congress, which was demanding share in power. In this backdrop, DMK Government would not last long, Mr Vaiko said.
Stating that people were fed up with the performance of both the UPA Government at the Centre and the DMK Government in the State, the AIADMK-led alliance would sweep the Lok Sabha poll in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, winning all the 40 seats. The DMK-led alliance would draw a blank, he added.
