Former Bihar MLA passes away
Munger, Aug 16 (UNI) Former MLA of Bihar Suresh Kumar Singh died at his residence here today after a protracted illness.
He was 88.
A two-time member of the Bihar Legislature, Mr Singh was first elected to the Lower House in 1972, representing Jan Sangh, and then in 1977 as a Janata Party MLA from Jamalpur.
As soon as the news of his death spread, large number of his followers visited Singh's Barairpur residence to pay their last respects.
Among others, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Assembly Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhuri condoled the death of the former legislator. They also sympathised with the members of the bereaved family.
Calling Singh a 'popular leader', the Chief Minister described his passing away as an ''irreparable loss to the party as well as to the state''.
