Court remanded 3 accused to police custody in Davkhare threat case
Mumbai, Aug 16 (UNI) A local court today remanded three people to police custody till August 18, for their alleged involvement in hatching a plot to kill deputy chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Vasant Davkhare.
The three accused are Jaya Bagat, former wife of Matka king Suresh Bhagat, her son Hitesh Bhagat and Suhas Roge, an aide of gangster- turned-MLA Arun Gawli, who is currently in judicial custody under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
They were arrested by crime branch sleuths after a designated court allowed them to take their custody. The trio had also been booked for murdering Suresh Bhagat in an orchestrated car accident.
During the monsoon session of the state legislature, two members of the Council had presented a letter, sent by a resident of Bhandup (an eastern suburb), which alleged that a 'supari' (contract) was paid to Arun Gawli's aide Kiran Pujari for murdering Davkhare, who belongs to the NCP.
Pujari is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail, after being arrested and booked under MCOCA for his alleged role in the murder of Suresh Bhagat in June this year.
