TNCC exhorts partymen to bring back Kamaraj rule
Chennai, Aug 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K V Thangabalu today exhorted partymen to take a pledge on the occasion of the Indpendence Day to bring back Kamaraj rule in the state.
Addressing party workers after hoisting the national flag at party headquartres ''Sathyamurthy Bhavan'' here, he said partymen should bury their differences and dedicate themselves to bring back the Kamaraj rule.
Blaming the BJP and other communal forces for all violence and tension, the country was witnessing, he said the Congress alone could provide an indpendent, democratic and secular government.
Later, in a brief chat with newspersons, he said there was nothing wrong in Congress aspiring to come to power in the state, when even some of the smaller and nascent parties had this aspiration.
''Why not we aspire for Chief Ministership. We are not running a saint mutt,'' he said, adding, the Congress party had all the qualifications to form a government in the state.
He congratulated Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for announcing pay hike to the state government employees on par with the Centre, based on the recommendations of the sixth pay commission.
The Congress leader also welcomed Mr Karunanidhi's annoucement of special time scale of pay for more than 2.20 lakh noon meal and Anganwadi workers in the state.
