SP MLA detained from outside PM residence for threatening immolation
New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Samajwadi Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh Kishore Samrite was today detained from outside the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after he threatened to commit self immolation to demand a separate Vidarbha state.
Mr Samrite was detained by the Delhi Police from outside the 7, Race course residence of the Prime Minister at around 1130 hrs hours, Delhi Police sources said.
Representing Largi constituency in Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Samrite had last week send a communication to Delhi Police commissioner Y S Dadhwal that he would commit self-immolation in front of the Prime Minister's residence on Independence Day if his demand for creation of separate Vidharbha state out of Maharashtra besides four districts out of MP wasn't met soon.
The MLA has been demanding that four districts of MP - Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara and Betul - be merged in Vidharbha because majority of people in these district speak Marathi and follow Maharashtrian culture.
