PM condoles death of schoolchildren in bus tragedy in Karnataka

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today condoled the death of seven schoolchildren in the bus tragedy that occurred at Gurupur near Mangalore yesterday.

Dr Singh sanctioned Rs one lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured, according to a release from Prime Minister's Office.

At least 11 people, including schoolchildren, women and aged, had drowned when a mini school bus fell into the swollen Phalguni river. The deceased included two women, three boys, four girls and two aged people.
