Lee-Hesh crash out of Olympics

By Staff

Beijing, Aug 15 (UNI) A strong medal hope for India, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi went down to fourth seed Swiss pair of Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter finals of the men's doubles event of the Olympic tennis competition here today.

The Indian duo was trailing 1-4 yesterday when the game was called off, but failed to make a come back and lost the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

After his singles defeat at the hands of James Blake yesterday, Federer made sure that he goes on to perform well enough against the Indian pair which has won three Grand Slams together.

The Swiss pair, after a promising start, did not loose its grip over the Indians. In the first set, after Federer started the procedings on a bright note with his booming serves, Bhupathi was broken in his very first serve and then Wawrinka held on to his serve giving the Swiss' pair a crucial 3-0 lead.

The estranged duo of Paes and Bhupathi looked scratchy and were found struggling with their coordination on court.
