Ishmeet gets Punjab State Award posthumously
Ludhiana, Aug 15 (UNI) Star 'Voice of India' winner late Ishmeet Singh, whose voice had charmed a million hearts all over the country and abroad, was today conferred the Punjab State Award posthumously for his outstanding contribution in singing during his short life span.
The award was presented by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to the late singer's parents at the state level Independence Day function here. With moist eyes the parents received the award.
Ishmeet drowned in a swimming pool in a hotel in Male while on a promotional tour to the Maldives last month.
The award comprises of a gold medal, certificate, shawl and cheque of Rs 11,000.
The Punjab Government had already announced to set up a music academy in memory of the late singer.
