Indians in Moscow celebrate 62nd Independence Day
Moscow, Aug 15 (UNI) A large number of members of the Indian community in Moscow, gathered today at the Embassy premises to celebrate the 62nd Independence Day.
Indian Ambassador to Moscow, P P Shukla hoisted the national tricolour flag near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, in the bright sunshine, followed by the National Anthem.
A group of students from the Moscow-based Central School (Kendriya Vidyalaya) sang patriotic songs.
Mr Shukla read out the address of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to the nation, in New Delhi, on the eve of the Independence Day.
After the formal celebrations, the Ambassador invited the gathering for a light refreshment, at the lawns of the Embassy.
