Governor greets people on Raksha Bandhan
Srinagar, Aug 15: Governor N N Vohra, has greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolising the special bonds between brothers and sisters.
In a message, the Governor described the festival as a unique and distinctive feature of India's cultural ethos and said it is inspired by noble sentiments transcending the bonds of religion.
Mr Vohra said the festival has an added significance in Jammu and Kashmir as on this day the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra comes to an end and devotees in large numbers pay obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine on Sravana Purnima.
The Governor hoped that this auspicious festival would usher Jammu and Kashmir in a new era of lasting peace and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among the people of the three regions of the State.
