Bhubhaneshwar, Aug.15 : A group of students in Orissa performed motorbike stunts while holding the Indian tricolour in their hands on the eve of 62nd Independence Day here.
The objective was to pay tribute to the freedom fighters and motivate people to remember the courage and spirit that people had during the freedom struggle.
Mandhata Swami (28) and his friends, all in their twenties, of Bhubaneswar heralded this day in their own fashion that was unique and inspiring, a day prior to the historical August 15 in the State capital.
"This is for all those people who have given us this Independence Day. We are doing this for the people to feel patriotic," said Mandhata Swami, the motorist.
he entire nation celebrates Independence Day, attending parades, hoisting the national flag and singing of national anthem at public functions.
Mandhata and his friends drove their motorbikes on national highway-5 (NH-5).
Leading the group, Mandhata performed various stunts on the motorbike, bedecked with tricolours. In one of the stunts, Mandhata drove his bike while standing on the seat, he also kept a stool on the bike and sat on it while the bike kept moving.
Onlookers were astonished to watch the group performing daredevil stunts on motorbikes.
"We really liked the stunts. It is for the Independence Day and we feel inspired by them," said Om Prakash Sahu, an onlooker.
