Itanagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today said a 'State Level Core Group' on security would be set up to deal with insurgency problem besides the law and order situation in the state.
Unfurling the tricolor at Indira Gandhi Park here this morning on the occasion of 62nd Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Minister stated that the group would be constituted under his chairmanship besides senior defence, para military and civil officials as members.
'' Very shortly our third Indian Reserve Battalion will be ready and pressed into service, while massive programme for the modernisation of police is underway to improve the law and order'', he added.
Highlighting the various achievements and his vision in the state, Mr Khandu said his government had tried its best to address the problems that have been affecting the life of people, particularly those living in remote villages. In order to ensure proper distribution of food grains and other basic amenities, the government had decided to hand over the entire public distribution system (PDS) management to cooperatives.
''I am happy to announce that Arunachal Pradesh will be one of the few states having its own Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy, 2008, giving wide ranging benefits to the affected families and local communities. I believe that this R&R policy will certainly address the grievances of the affected families which have apprehensions about the Hydropower projects coming up in the state''.
'' The Dibang Project alone will generate over 300 crore revenue for the state from the free power it is entitled to. If we build similar project across the state, then the state can generate annual revenue of Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 crore. This single step alone can change the fortune of the state,'' the chief minister said quoting Prime government Manmohan Singh.
He informed that the state government was coming out with a pragmatic and investor-friendly Industrial Policy, and would encourage industries based on agriculture, horticulture and plantation produce.
