Nagpur, Aug 15 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered an offence against two employees of the Motor Transport (MT) section of Chandrapur Police for alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 94 lakh by producing fake bills.

ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Ajay Panhekar said the employees, identified as Store Superintendent Devrao Arjun Gokhare and Administrative Superintendent Devrao Patru Kande, had produced several fake bills for spare parts and workshop supplies between 1998 and 2005. The bills, for a total amount of Rs 94,12,576, were for procurements that were never made, he said.

The bills were sanctioned and payments made because Gokhare and Kande allegedly put fake signatures of the MT officer concerned, Mr Panhekar said. The fraud came to light during a recent scrutiny of the bills for the period, he said.

However, no arrests had been made so far, Mr Panhekar added.
