3 killed, 4 hurt as mini-van hits bus near Tiruchirapalli

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 15: Three people were killed and four, including a woman, injured when their mini-van collided head-on with a State Transport Corporation bus at Pothamettupatti Village, near Manapparai, on the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul National Highway near here.

Police said the deceased were identified as Sundarprashad (36) of Tulsipur in Khalabad District of Bihar, Subramani (24) and van driver Karthi (23), both from Kottapatti Village, near Manaparai.

While Subramani was killed on the spot, Sundarprashad and Karthi succumbed to their injuries at the Government Headquarters Hospital here.

Ms Urmiladevi (34), wife of Sundarprashad and their relatives Krishanaprashad (25) and Sathimber Prashad (26) and Muniappan (36) of Kottappatti sustained injuries.

Sundarprashad and his family members, working in a private steel factory at Kottapatti Village, were transporting their household articles in the mini-van from Viralimalai to Kottapatti when the accident occurred on Thursday, Aug 14.

All the injured were admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital where Ms Urmiladevi's condition was said to be critical.
