Heavy rain causes severe waterlogging in Patna
Patna, Aug 14 (UNI) Heavy rains measuring 52 mm in just two hours threw life out of gear in most parts of this capital city and its surrounding areas.
Local Met office said most of the localities, including Kankarbagh, Rajendranagar, Sri Krishnanagar and posh areas of Pataliputra Colony went under knee deep water following the heavy rains.
Rain water also entered the ground floors of almost all buildings in the low-lying areas of the city forcing the residents to take shelter elsewhere.
Though the Patna Municipal Corporation pressed into service a number of pumps to drain out water, little effect was seen till late in the afternoon as most of the areas continued to remain waterlogged.
Reports of similar situation pourding in from the neighbouring districts, including Vaishali.
Meanwhile, forecasting possibility of further rain or thunder shower during the next 24 hours, the Met office said the sky would remain overcast throughout the day tomorrow.
Today's maximum temperature was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 26.2 degrees. The overall humidity varied between 85 to 90 per cent, the Met office added.
