EC to review JK poll preparedness on Aug 14
{image-j&k_14082008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Srinagar/New Delhi, Aug 14: The Election Commission will on Thursday, Aug 14 review the poll preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir for the state assembly elections, which are expected to be held in sometime in November-December. The term of the Assembly would expire on Thursday, Nov 20.
According to sources, the Election Commission will review the poll preparations with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state. The Commission will review the state's preparedness with regard to electoral rolls, electors" photo identity cards and general law and order situation.
Besides, the Election Commission will also hold talks on the preparations for the Assembly polls in Delhi with the Chief Electoral Officer of the national Capital, which also goes to polls in November.
With
the
ongoing
agitations
in
Jammu
and
Kashmir,
the
Congress
had
on
Wednesday,
Aug
13
decided
that
assembly
polls
could
wait
and
the
priority
had
to
be
laid
on
bringing
back
the
normalcy
in
the
state
and
not
the
elections.
