Showers bring relief to Delhiites

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Rains in the National Capital today brought some repite to the denizens from the hot weather.

The rainfall, which followed a heavily overcast sky since last night, led to a drop in minimum temperature, from 27.2 degrees Celsius yesterday, to 26.2 degrees C.

While light rain was witnessed in morning , a spell of heavy showers was experienced in afternoon.

Though bringing down the mercury, the rain threw life out of gear and together with the 'chakka jam' called by the VHP, caused traffic jams at many areas.

A total of 37 mm rain was recorded since last night till 1430 hrs. While 23 mm of rain was recorded till 0830 hrs, the 14 mm rain was recorded between 0830 hrs and 1430 hrs.

With the sky being heavily overcast, more rain and thundershowers are expected in Delhi in the next 24 hours.

Infact, weatherman have forecast some heavy showers in the National Capital and other parts of Northwest India during the next few days.

''Current meteorological analysis suggests fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy downpour over northwest India during next 3 days,'' weatherman said.

The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with more spells of rain and thundershowers.
