Ruling front helping Edu lobby from TN, K'taka: Thankachan
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 13 (UNI) United Democratic Front (UDF) convener P P Thankachan today alleged that an artificial crisis in admission to professional colleges has been created every year to help the educational lobby from neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that certain politicians in the ruling front and some official held talks with such lobbies in Chennai and Bangalore.
However, he refused to disclose names by saying that he wanted to collect some more information in this regard.
Though it was the third academic year after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government came to power, it had not taken any concrete step to resolve the crisis in the admission to medical and engineering courses in Kerala. ''This is intentional and meant to help the educational lobby from neighbouring states,'' he added.
He said the UDF would lay a siege to the State Secretariat on August 16 to protest the wrong policies of the government in the educational sector and also against the failure to contain the hike in prices of essential commodities.
