New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Delhi Traffic Police today urged the people of the city to use public transport on Rakshabandhan so as to avoid traffic gridlocks and congestion on the roads of the national capital that day.
Addressing a news conference, Joint Commissioner of Police(Traffic) S N Shrivastava said on the day of Rakshabandhan there is a lot of traffic movement on the roads of the city as people go their sisters or brothers' homes, leading to traffic snarls, especially during morning and evening hours.
''Road space is limited, so some inconvenience to commuters can be in store. But it would be better if instead of taking out their private vehicles, people use DTC buses and metro services, which would surely take some pressure off the roads of the capital,'' he appealed.
