Patna, Aug 13 (UNI) Former Union Minister Sanjay Paswan, who had earlier abandoned the BJP, today rejoined it along with his supporters here.
In the presence of Mr Kalraj Mishra, in-charge of political affairs of the party in Bihar, party state president Radha Mohan Singh, MP Ravishankar Prasad, ministers from the BJP fold in the state cabinet and several MLAs and other leaders, Mr Paswan rejoined the party.
Expressing pleasure over joining of Mr Paswan, Mr Mishra said it was like '' home coming '' for Mr Paswan. He exuded confidence that the former minister would work like a strong pillar of the party and strive for the cause of the oppressed section of the society.
Mr Paswan who joined BJP in 1994, was elected to Lok Sabha from Nawada parliamentary constituency in 1999, and was inducted in the Union Cabinet led by Mr Vajpayee.
After tasting defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in 2004, Mr Paswan had abandoned the BJP in protest against the denial of the post of the state unit president of the party by its Central leadership.
During the last four years, Mr Paswan spent his time serving several political parties including RJD, Congress and LJP and finally returned to the BJP.
