Vijayawada, Aug 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradsh Agricultural Department Commissioner D Srinivas today said the enumeration work for the crop damage due to recent heavy rains would be taken up from tomorrow.
Addressing a press conference here, he said teams for enumeration work would be constituted with Mandal agricultural officer, Mandal revenue officer and a formar representative.
He said paddy crop of 1.20 lakh hectares was damaged in Krishna district due to recent rains.
Mr Srinivas said for the short duration crops, the state government would provide seeds on 50 per cent subsidy.
He said the quality control teams of the agricultural department detained 12079 quintals of seeds and 2198 Mt of fertilisers worth Rs 80 crore.
They also seized 1048 quintals of seeds and 944 Mt of fertilisers worth Rs 2.01 crore, he said adding that 38 licences had been suspended or cancelled and as many as 20 people were arrested and 59 cases were registered.
The agricultural department would recruit about 400 agricultural officers and 500 agricultural extension officers, he added.
