Chennai, Aug 13 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Dr S Ramadoss today demanded that the Tamil Nadu government order an enquiry into the medical counselling issue reiterating his charge that the second phase of counselling for medical seat was deliberately delayed to benefit the private Chettinad Medical College aiming to secure Deemed University status.
In a statement here, he said the state government while denying that there was no delay in the second phase of counselling, conveniently buried the fact that private colleges were not included in the first phase of counselling, unlike last year.
On government's clarification that the counselling was held as per the schedule announced by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and there was no delay in it, he asked as to why private colleges were not covered in the first phase of counselling.
He said in the first phase of counselling held last year between July nine to 16, students were given the option to take seats available in self-financing medical colleges under the government quota.
However, this year, self financing colleges were not covered in the first and second phase of counselling which was held after a gap of 34 days.
