Curfew relaxation in Baramulla and other north Kashmir towns
Baramulla, Aug 13 (UNI) Curfew was relaxed in Baramulla and other major towns while no relaxation was given in Sopore in north Kashmir today.
Official sources said curfew was relaxed in Tanmarg and Uri from 1600 hrs to 1900 hrs while it was relaxed for two hours in Pattan and old town Baramulla.
No relaxation was given in Sopore, sources said adding the decision to relax the curfew will be taken by the administration after reviewing the situation.
During the entire day security forces and police personnel remained deployed in all areas, strictly enforcing the curfew orders, they said.
They said that even women and children were not being allowed to move out of their houses.
There were few minor incidents of curfew violations in the district.
Baramulla remained in focus for the past three days as thousands of people from different parts of the valley marched to cross over Muzaffarabad through Uri tehsil of this district.
It was on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road at Sheeri, senior Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz was killed in police firing on Monday.
Sheikh was among thousands of people who joined the Muzaffarabad march call given by both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference and Kashmir Fruit Growers Association (KFGA) in view of the alleged blockade of the Jammu-Srinagar highway and attack on Kashmiri drivers at Jammu.
