New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Communications and Manufacturing Association of India (CMAI) today said it will set up a 100 million dollar fund to promote eco-friendly research and manufacturing projects in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) segment in association with Korea.

CMAI also announced the first ever Korean event in India on digital opportunity "Digital Opportunity Forum India 2008" which is to be held in the city tomorrow.

The forum will offer a combination of exhibition and platforms that will display various technologies and offer strategic business insight. Ministry of Public Administration and Security, Korea will be hosting the event.

''This event will enable Indian industry and policy makers to interact with the Korean industry and government to understand the policies and procedures which has resulted into a high broadband penetration despite the current slowdown in the telecom sector,'' CMAI President N K Goyal told reporters here.

''India has immense potential and we wish to partner to support economic growth and development in the ICT sector. We aim at bridging the digital divide by supporting international cooperation to improve access to information and communication infrastructure and technologies; share and exchange knowledge and experiences; build ICT capacity; develop and utilise ICT applications and services,'' Park Won Geun, Deputy Secretary General at Digital Opportunity Forum said.
