BJP activists court arrest at Raj Bhavan on Amarnath issue
Panaji, Aug 13 (UNI) BJP activists, including party Goa unit president MP Shripad Naik and leader of the opposition in state legislative assembly Manohar Parrikar, courted arrest here today when they staged demonstrations near Raj Bhavan as part of the nation-wide agitation, seeking revocation of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir.
The activists, including several executive members, former ministers and women volunteers holding party flags and placards, were, however, later released.
They raised slogans against the UPA government and the Jammu and Kashmir government for adopting ''appeasement policy'' against the Hindus.
The BJP leaders urged President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to revoke land to the shrine board, visited by thousands of pilgrims from all over the country.
The leaders were not allowed to meet governor Dr S S Sidhu to submit a memorandum for forwarding it to the President and the Prime Minister in support of their demand.
