Bengal Congress to oppose Aug 20 industrial strike: Subrata
Kolkata, Aug 13 (UNI) The state Congress has decided to oppose the industrial strike called by the Left trade unions protesting against the Indo-US nuke deal and price rise on August 20.
'' The CPI(M)'s trade union CITU and other left trade unions called the strike which is politically motivated and the call is not for the workers' interest,'' senior party leader Subrata Mukherjee told newspersons here today.
He said the party activists would hit the street for opposing the bandh while observing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary on that day throughout the state.
The party's youth wing Yuva Congress would take out a rally from Shyambazar to Vivekananda Park in memory of the former Prime Minister, he added.
