Deoria, Aug 12 (UNI) Samajwadi Party activists today staged a demonstration at Deoria District headquarters over Uttar Pradesh government's decision of shutting down the sugarmills in the state.
Leading the agitators, the SP MP Mohan Singh said they would stage statewide agitation if the state government did not take back it's decision of closing the government-run sugar mills.
Charging the UP chief ministaer Mayawati with indulging in 'anti-farmer' activities, he said when Ms Mayawati is unconcerned about the farmers of his native village Badalpur then what good could she do to the others.
The BSP government is not at all considering the due payment of the sugarcane producers, instead she decided to shut down the sugar mills, he added.
Mr Singh stressed that he would continue his agitation for the benefit of farmers.
