Pak minister says Musharraf impeachment to complete by early Sept
Islamabad, Aug 12 : Even as the ruling coalition continued deliberations on a charge sheet against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Labour Minister Khurshid Shah has said that the process (of impeachment) would take around one month to complete.
He said the process be completed by the first week of September.
"The entire process will take almost three weeks and will culminate by September 2 or 3, in case President Musharraf refuses to resign," the Daily Times quoted Shah as saying after the meeting of the committee at the Parliament House.
He said the working committee is preparing a "historic and voluminous" charge sheet consisting of charges of violation of the constitution, misconduct, corruption, irregularities and criminal cases in his acts and orders during eight years of "absolute rule".
The meeting is likely to continue for another two days.
Sources privy to the developments said Raza Rabbani and Farooq Naik worked on the text of the charge sheet until late on Monday, although the meeting ended at 2.00 pm.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar said that it had been decided that the incumbent session of the National Assembly would continue until the passage of impeachment motion or resignation by the president.
