Indians lose job in Dubai as bunks turn automatic
{image-Petrol stations launch self-service_12082008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Dubai, Aug 12: In a move that is expected to throw many expatriates including several Indians out of job, motorists will have to fill petrol and diesel on their own at 10 Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) stations here and in the Northern Emirates from Tuesday, Aug 12.
According to an ENOC official, this self-service is a pilot project following the global trend. ''In the US and Europe, all use the self-service method. Now we want to test the reaction across the UAE,'' he added. As people in the UAE are not familiar with self-service at gas stations, ENOC employees would stand at the stations in the first two months to guide the motorists through the process. The pilot project would run for three months. Depending on its success, self-service might be introduced in other ENOC stations as well.
