Kottayam, Aug 12 (UNI) Congress-led opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) Convenor P P Thankachan today charged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala was trying to create an anti-Centre climate by blaming the Centre for its failure. Talking to newspersons here, he said the UDF would intensify its agitation if the state government did not change its anti-people policies.
Alleging that the LDF government was a ''total failure'' in all fields, he said it was not implementing the ''Bhakshyasuraksha'' scheme.
The state government was not adopting a favourable stance on Kuttanad Package, he alleged and appealed the government to take immediate steps to implement it.
To implement the package the state government had to bear Rs 4.65 crore as its share, he added.
He alleged that even though the Kerala Agriculture Debt Relief Commission had recommended to release Rs 18 crore to help 7,000 farmers, the state government had not yet distributed a single paise as assistance. The Centre had alloted Rs 2,450 crore for this purpose, he added.
Mr Thankachan came here as a part of the state-wide vehicle campaign against the alleged anti-people policies of the LDF government.
As a part of the ongoing agitation, the UDF would picket Secretariat on August 16, he said adding that Secretariat employees had offered their support for the agitation.
