K'taka plea to Maharashtra on water release during monsoon
Bangalore, Aug 12 (UNI) Karnataka Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai today urged Maharashtra to extend cooperation in the release of extra water from its dams for avoiding panic situation, loss of life and property in the state.
In a letter to his Maharashtra Counterpart Ajit Pawar, he said his state should inform Karnataka about the release of water well in advance during the floods and plan the release effectivily to moderate floods.
''It will help to us take up emergency steps in three-affected districts of Belgaum, Bijapur and Bagalkot,'' he said.
Mr Bommai said the three districts of the state have been facing severe innundation problem year after year due to unplanned release of water from Maharashtra during monsoons.
