Hyderabad, Aug 12 (UNI) The death toll in the rain related incidents has rose to 97 today as heavy rains lashed Andhra Pradesh since four days.
According to an official release, 46 men, 34 women and 17 children were killed in the rains. Seven people each in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, 12 in West Godavari, eight in Nalgonda, 29 in Guntur, four each in East Godavari and Warangal, three in Krishna, six in Karim Nagar, five each in Khammam, Adilabad and Medak, and one each in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram.
As many as 1100 irrigation tanks, six major, 15 medium and 1080 minor projects were damaged duo to heavy rains. More than 2017 km roads were damaged, 282 scours occurred. Crops were damaged in 3.71 lakh hectares and 11 districts affected.
Heavy rain is likely to occur in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karim Nagar, Khammam and Waragnal districts during next 48 hours as the depression over Bay of Bengal was weakened.
