Amritsar, Aug 12 (UNI) Dal Khalsa, a radical Sikh organisation today severely condemned the killing of Hurriyat leader Sheikh Adbul Aziz by security forces in Uri setor of J&K.

In a statement released here, party leaders H S Dhami and Kanwarpal Singh lashed out at security forces for firing indiscriminately on the peaeful procession led by Sheikh Adbul Aziz in Srinagar, killing two and injuring many others.

According to Dal Khalsa leaders, Hurriyat leader Sheikh Adbul Aziz was a member of the co-ordination committee of ethnic and religious minorities struggling for right to self determination. The committee under the chairmanship of Justice Ajit Singh Bains formed in Delhi on March 23 this year.

While paying tributes to Sheikh Aziz, the Dal Khalsa termed him as a martyr who faced bullets with brave heart for the cause of Kashmir while strictly adhering to democratic path. They also described Sheikh Aziz as a friend of Sikhs and supporter of Sikh cause.

They expressed their solidarity with the Kashmiri leaders including Hurriyat chairman Omar Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and sympathy with the family members of the deceased.

Taking exception over the manner the Union and J &K administration had mishandled the situation arisen out of the Amarnath shrine land row, the Dal Khalsa leaders said instead of checking the Hindutva groups the government was hell bent on unleashing a reign of terror on Kashmiri leaders who were pursuing their struggle in a democratic way.

They took the BJP to task for engineering violence in Jammu region to reap electoral benefits in the impending elections. The BJP in order to grasp power was precipitating the situation by fuelling the agitation in Jammu, the statement added.
