Aamir receives Gollapudi Srinivas award
Chennai, Aug 12 (UNI) Bollywood actor-director Aamir Khan today received the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial award which is presented every year to the best director making his debut with a sensitive film.
Aamir was honoured with the award for his much acclaimed first film as director ''Tare Zamin Par'' about a dyslexic boy.
Veteran Tamil film director K Balachander presented the award to Aamir Khan, who observed that when he himself had presented the award as the guest of honour a few years ago, he never thought that he would be the recepient of the award some day.
At a glittering function which got off with a Hindustani music concert, another veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher delivered the Gollaudi Srinivas lecture on cinema.
The award was instituted 11 years ago by well known Telugu writer and actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao in memory of his son Srinivas who died in a mishap while he himself was making his debut film in Visakhapatnam.
