Chennai, Aug 11 (UNI) The Federation of Tamil Nadu Flat and Housing Promoters Association, today took out a ''funeral march'' and symbolically cremated the draft of the second Master Plan (MP) for regulation of the city infrastructure development in front of the CMDA office here.
More than 50 constructors and promoters participated in the demonstration, protesting against the non-publication of the draft plan.
The first MP for regulation of the city infrastructure development was implemented in 1975. Under the norms, it should have been revised in 1995 after 20 years, but the Government developed the second MP draft only in April 2007.
After collective opinion from the public, associations, consumer forum, the draft was made ready in July 2007, but it has not been published so far, a Federation release here said.
Earlier, the Federation submitted various memoranda and applications to pertinent Government bodies for publication of the draft. Members of the Federation went on a hunger strike to register their protest last month, but no step was taken, the release added.
The Federation demanded that the Government bring into immediate effect the second MP and introduce a uniform Development Control Rule (DCR) for all corporations, municipalities and local panchayats and grant of deemed approval in case of planning permission in 15 days.
It also urged the Government to form a separate ministry for the Construction Industry and suggested that the Government consult the stake-holders, whenever there was any change in DCR.
